Lucy at 21 Months

This month you were ALL about your blankets and stuffed animals. As a baby, you didn't grow an attachment to things. You were over your bink by five months old and you rejected the little lovey blankets I would put in your hand. Now you often whimper "goggie" as I pick you out of the crib, signaling that you want Sam, our stuffed basset hound, to come out with you. At daycare you walk around, cuddle, and chew on your blanket. You've been biting down on blankets in times of distress or fatigue. And you continually have "a lot of emotions" as I like to explain to people. I know part of that is being a toddler, part is being a girl, and part is just having a lot of personality.

You are starting to become really fun to play with. You seem a little less frustrated right now, probably due to the enhanced communication skills. One of the funnier things about yous is your guttural laughs and grunts. And your laughs and cries have this raspy sound to them which makes you sound like a chain smoking grandmother, so one of your nicknames is Gladys.

This month you got suspended from daycare for biting a friend. It was your second biting offense, so you got to spend four days with mommy and daddy. When you're frustrated, you bite down on your blanket to relieve the tension. That day you must have needed some relief quickly because you do know better than to bite friends. You love your blankets, your stuffed animals, your babies, and your snacks. You try to carry all them of wherever you go.

I think you're almost ready to start potty training. You go often to hide in the dining room corner to poop, and come back to the room tugging on your diaper saying "I poop" (Which is the cutest damn thing ever). You also tell me when you pee, but you think burps and farts are also pee, so....  I will be leaving your little potty out for you to think about it.
